the humble roti...

...and the various Indian breads like paratha, puri, chappati styled so beautifully in this Elle Decor feature~ Feb-March, 2010 issue.
Bajra roti with a dollop of pure white butter served in a 'Kansa' thali...Love the use of traditional vessels. ( Here is a post about my love for traditional Indian containers;-)
So mundane, so everyday thing...but so special.

you are right - it is brilliantly styled - shows that if one has real talent - can make anything look good, not just fancy shmancy cuisine...
Good earth sells these kansa utensils but way overpriced.

And how we did not care about our grandmother's kansa thalas!

I recently got a roti mesh from India which makes making rotis on my electric cooking range so possible.

I love rotis and could use some styling idea from your post. Thanks for sharing.
